La Mirada Regional Theatre Projects

As one of the most highly praised theatres in Southern California, La Mirada Theatre is known as a thoroughly enjoyable place to attend live events in the region. More than 3 million patrons have passed through their doors since 1977, with more than 4,000 performances. Numerous plays and musicals that were originally produced there have toured the country and around the world.

For Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, I was asked to design a minimalistic, cartoon-style poster for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, highlighting the main and supporting actors. Leveraging my costume design expertise and Adobe Illustrator skills, I created sketches based on images of the actors, wigs, and fabric swatches provided by the wardrobe supervisor. This project challenged me to step outside my usual design approach and explore illustration and cartoon-style graphics.
For Jersey Boys, I was asked to design left chest and full back graphics for Jersey Boys lettermen jackets, worn by 'The Four Lovers.' My costume design background enabled seamless collaboration with the costume designer, streamlining the process. I researched 1950s kitsch and vintage aesthetics to achieve the desired look and managed the outsourcing and delivery of the final products.
For The Little Mermaid, I was asked to create left chest and full-back digital illustrations for The Little Mermaid crew t-shirts. My drawing experience allowed me to stylize an iconic character, focusing on flat colors and clean lines. I also managed the outsourcing and delivery of the final products.
For The Play That Goes Wrong, I was asked to create a left chest theatre logo and six full-back digital illustrations for the crew characters in the show. Drawing inspiration from the original playbill's of each show, I played with those initial design elements to keep true to each show, while also blending them with a bit of comedy to emphasize the histerical nature of The Play That Goes Wrong.
