Christian Dior: The New Look Type Specimen Book
[ print product / indesign ]
For my typography class, I designed a type specimen book after Christian Dior, a French fashion designer who founded one of the world's top luxury fashion houses. Dior became a renowned fashion designer after his first collection was launched in 1947. This collection featured the acclaimed "New Look" which held characteristics such as rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and a very full skirt.

My objective was to create a square type specimen book with a specific theme showcasing the abilities of my selected typeface. Having selected Didot as the typeface for the project, I knew the qualities of this font would align perfectly with Dior's current branding. The challenge arose when finding a way to make this publication unique, allowing myself to push the boundaries of Dior's brand while still making it recognizable and blend well with the typography.
